An In-Depth Guide To Using Our Soaps

An In-Depth Guide To Using Our Soaps

Did you know that Palermo Body all started because our founder, Jess, loved making soap? So it’s really no surprise that our soaps have grown to become a classic staple in our skincare line, and why people can’t seem to get enough of them. Not only do our soaps make for great shower companions—but did you know our soaps were also formulated to be facial bars as well? We know, we know—using soap bars on your face seems like such a skincare faux pas, but our soaps are far from those “ocean scented” soaps your brother used to use in high school. Our soaps are made with gentle, all-natural, skin loving ingredients that leave your skin feeling fresh and clean, but never tight and dry. So if you’re thinking of giving them a try, this post will help serve as a guide for what soaps will work best for your particular skin type.

And we’ve conveniently listed them in order of most gentle to most oil absorbing. But if you ever have further questions, don’t hesitate to comment below or reach out via email or Instagram DM!

Coconut Milk + Oatmeal with Jojoba Oil

Skin Type: Sensitive, dry, eczema prone skin

With only 7 ingredients, this soap is the most gentle out of all the ones we make. Coconut milk is also super moisturizing and oatmeal helps with soothing any skin irritation. It’s also made with Jojoba Oil which does wonders to heal the skin and is actually very similar to the skin's natural sebum, making it incredibly hypoallergenic. This soap is also unscented meaning we've withheld adding any essential oils, however, it has a lovely natural aroma of oatmeal as you lather it. All in all, it’s great for those of you with sensitive, dry skin.

Lavender + Sage with White Clay

Skin Type: Sensitive or dry skin

Lavender and clary sage work really well together for soothing any irritation as well as moisturizing the skin. This bar also has pieces of organic lavender buds scattered throughout the soap, which help to mildly exfoliate when used against the skin. We’ve also added shea butter, which is super moisturizing and nourishing. Lastly, white clay helps to very gently draw out any impurities leaving skin soft and smooth.

Rose Geranium + Mandarin with Rosehip

Skin Type: Normal, dry, or maturing

This soap is another very gentle soap (and our best seller, might we add). The rose geranium is balancing while rosehip helps with elasticity and mild exfoliation—all of which do wonders for skin that’s anywhere between normal, dry, and maturing. Plus the scent is a dreamy floral aroma with hints of earthiness that’ll make you feel like you’re laying in a bed of roses—so count us in!

Tea Tree + Mint with French Green Clay

Skin Type: Normal or combination skin

Tea tree oil, as well as peppermint oil, are naturally antimicrobial and help to clear up blemish prone skin while the french green clay helps to draw out excess oil and impurities. This soap also has poppy seeds throughout the bar, which helps to gently exfoliate skin when used as a body bar. Fun fact—this is actually our founder Jess’ personal favorite and the same scent of the first bar she ever made!

Grapefruit + Juniper with Activated Charcoal

Skin Type: Oily and blemish prone skin

This soap has activated bamboo charcoal which helps to draw out impurities and oil, while grapefruit and juniper aid in detoxification and toning of the skin. Even though this bar is the “strongest” of all the ones we make, it’s still gentle enough to be used every day. This bar is best for oily/combination skin types, however, it’s a great cleanser for normal to dry skin when followed with our serum to ensure moisture is retained.

We hope you’ll give our soaps a try if you haven’t already. And if you already have, shout out your favorites in the comments below! Be sure to include your skin type so readers can learn which soap soaps work for you and may be well suited for them.
